There has been an elephant in the room for a while that many of us are barely aware of. This is the trauma held in our bodies. All mammals, including humans, have a natural stress response through fight, flight, or freeze, the effects of which can get stuck in our bodies. If not discharged and released, it can manifest in disorders such as anxiety, depression, lethargy, PTS, disassociation, addictions, hyper-vigilance, and more.
By combining the power of the conscious breath with a somatic approach, we can learn it is safe to befriend the trauma residues in our bodies. It is safe to shake hands with it and let it go. These sessions will provide us with a healthy toolkit for long-term, slow trauma release from our bodies and for staying in balance every day.
Embodied Breathwork is quite different from other forms of breath work as there is movement of the body a somatic approach with TRE exercise. This is about bring a safety and regulation in the nervous system. It is quite a gentle awareness where activation then pendulation occurs placing the system into its recognised felt sense to reprogram the effects of trauma and to release slowly.
In my personal opinion it is the most powerful tool you will ever find for releasing stuck or stored emotions in your nervous system or body. It will also create confidence and self-love in a way you didn’t know was possible.
In order to make it through such sudden and severe pain, victims of trauma typically dissociate from their bodies, numbing their sensitivity to physical sensations. Some people feel “unreal,” as if they have left their body and are experiencing life from a great distance. They do whatever they can to keep from feeling the raw sensations of fear and pain in their body. They might lash out in aggression or freeze in depression or confusion. They might have suicidal thoughts or drink themselves senseless. They overeat or starve themselves, use drugs, obsess, and in other ways try to numb or control their experience. Yet the pain and fear don’t go away. Rather, they lurk in the background and from time to time suddenly take over.
Trauma results from any event that overwhelms a person’s capacity to cope. The common ingredient is helplessness. When our capacity to defend ourselves by running, fighting, or freezing is not successful the unreleased survival energies stay stuck in our nervous system. We stay in survival mode and we develop symptoms of trauma. If we do not release this energy from our nervous system where it is stuck, we develop anxiety and panic and other psychosomatic and behavioral problems. The light and joy seems to go out of our life. When we discharge trauma, we invite light and joy back in and open the door to our own inner healer. Our natural state of love and harmony returns.
Techniques Used In Breathwork
My Breathwork style is a continuous conscious circular breath with deep somatic myofascial trauma release (body dearmouring) using specific trigger point on the meridians through deep Myofascial bodywork that can go deeper to release emotions from the body when the nervous system can be reset to a more balanced state.
Using Breath, Sound and movement of the body including TRE Somatic exercise. The participant may have cry hysterically, laugh, experience visions, be in a meditative, still or serene state, or experience a deep spiritual awakening. In fact, some participants report spiritual, religious or mystical experiences. Others experience great levels of stress relief, clarity and gain solutions to the issues that have been troubling them.
Even though Breathwork can be experienced as a one off introductory session it is designed as an integrated series to deactivate, heal, open, energise, and balance your whole being. Deep connected breathing, bodywork, movement, felt sense and meditation supports your body’s natural process of healing. In a safe environment the combination of these techniques lead to deactivating the nervous system and releases long held tension and trauma from the body and mind. Healing opens the door to living a healthy and empowered life.

Think of it like a pressure cooker, I will ever so gently start to release the pressure built up and reset the flight or fight response nervous system to a more calm and balanced state.
